Airport Passengers Decrease 33% in November

Year to Date Total Up 8%

SIOUX CITY, IA - Glenn Januska, Director of the Sioux Gateway Airport/Col. Bud Day Field, announced today a 33% decrease in total passengers for November compared to November of 2000. The decreases in the past three months come at the end of six consecutive months of strong passenger increases.

“Obviously, the terrorist attacks on September 11th and the general slowdown in the economy have hurt the air travel industry as a whole,” said Januska.  “While we had hoped to have seen more of a recovery by now, what we are experiencing here is consistent with the industry as a whole.  The very strong numbers for the first half of the year, along with the increased presence of regional jets in the market including American Connection’s switch to all regional jets is promising and bodes well for both the short and long term growth in the passenger market.”
