Airport Receives $92,853 Commercial Service Vertical Infrastructure Program Grant

SIOUX CITY, IA - Glenn Januska, Director of the Sioux Gateway Airport/Col. Bud Day Field, announced today the receipt of a $92,853 Iowa Commercial Air Service Vertical Infrastructure Program Grant.  Since 1999 the Airport has received $398,234 (including the current $92,853) from the Vertical Infrastructure Program to upgrade the Airport’s vehicle maintenance facilities.  The Airport undertook and completed Phase I of the maintenance facility project in 2000.  The Airport has a project balance of $201,323 that will be used for completion of a vehicle maintenance and storage facility renovation study currently underway.  The remaining balance will be used for design and development of the next construction phase.

“We’re fortunate that the State established and continues to fund this program,” said Januska.  “The program revenue is generated by the users of the State aviation system, not taxpayers, and was one of the programs not eliminated by the recent budget deliberations.”
