Thursday, February 15, 2001Northwest to Temporarily Change Jet ServiceDeparture Time Moved to 6:45 amSIOUX CITY, IA - Glenn S. Januska, Airport Director announced today that Northwest Airlines would reinstate its morning jet departure March 2nd. Northwest plans to reallocate that aircraft, as well as aircraft from seven other communities, to maintain the integrity of their winter schedule. The morning jet departure and late night arrival will be temporarily suspended starting February 18th until it’s brought back March 2nd; however, the afternoon jet will continue to arrive in Sioux City at 12:19 PM and depart at 1 PM. Northwest Airlink, providing seven daily departures and seven daily arrivals, won’t be affected by this service change and will continue to provide passengers access to and through the Minneapolis market. “There are many positive things happening at the Airport right now. While any disruption in service is disappointing, we know that Northwest Airlines is committed to our market and wanted to restore our schedule as soon as possible. We were able to work with Northwest to move the morning jet to 6:45 AM where the community has asked that it be scheduled,” said Januska. “I’m optimistic about our passenger totals this year.” The Airport reported a 5% increase in total passengers in January as well as a 5% increase in overall Airport traffic (aircraft takeoffs and landings). |
