Monday, October 01, 2001Trans World Express to Introduce Regional Jet Service November 1st.SIOUX CITY, IA - Glenn S. Januska, Airport Director, announced today that Trans World Express (TWE) Airlines would begin serving the Sioux Gateway Airport with Embraer Regional Jet (ERJ) aircraft November 1st. The ERJs will replace the Saab 340’s TWE currently operates in the market. TWE will utilize two ERJ series aircraft, an ERJ 140 and an ERJ 145. The ERJ 140’s have a seating capacity of 44 in a 1 x 2 configuration. The ERJ 145’s have a seating capacity of 50, also in a 1 x 2 configuration. Each series aircraft has a maximum cruising speed of 519 m.p.h. and a cruising altitude of 37,000 feet. “We continue to gear up for regional jet service and have been thrilled at the response by passengers to the regional jets in our market,” said Mr. Januska. “TWE has done very well in our market, recording a 51% increase in passenger enplanements in August, and a total (year-to-date) increase in enplaned passengers of 88%. We look forward to our continued partnership with TWE as they expand and grow the Airport�s regional jet market.” TWE operates three scheduled daily flights from the Sioux Gateway Airport to its hub in St. Louis with connections to more than 160 destinations worldwide.
